Instructional Technology at Concord Road

Technology

Technology is an integral part of instructional life at Concord Road. Teachers work closely with the Instructional Technology Coordinator and school-wide technology team members to integrate technology in ways that support and extend the curriculum and student learning. Student interests and needs combined with curriculum objectives guide integration in such a way as to provide seamless support of instruction.

All grades have an opportunity to visit the computer labs and use technology in a meaningful way in their classrooms. We currently have 2 computer labs. One lab, visited most often by K-2, is equipped with eMacs, the other with Dell computers. Both labs have SMARTboards. Software is supported on a networked system.

Labs function as an extension of the classroom in which teachers utilize technology to support their curriculum focus. All grades have an opportunity to visit the lab on a weekly basis, with the option of additional reservations for special projects or activities. In addition to the labs, all classes have computers in the classroom for students to use. Grades K-1 have 1 or more in-room Mac computers, while grades 3 and 4 are equipped clusters of 4 student Dell computers. Classroom machines support continuing day-to-day instruction and student interest in technology.

Instruction for our adult learners, our teachers, continues in an ongoing manner through a variety of professional development programs as well as through research and exploration of developing technologies. Best practices are continually researched, to support growth of technology integration in a meaningful way. Professional development is guided by the needs of our teachers and students, as well as by emerging technology support opportunities.

Daily operational support is designed to make use of technology easy and functional for teachers and students alike.

Guided by best practices, State Standards and intuitive use of technology, the technology program at Concord Road supports student interest and academic development in a meaningful way.
